Journalists from across the world can apply for the Rosalynn Carter Fellowship for Mental Health in Journalism, which provides stipends to journalists to report on topics related to mental health or mental illnesses. Deadline for applications for the 2010 to 2011 fellowship: April 19.
Journalists must have at least three years experience in any news medium. Topics are flexible; past fellows have studied topics including demographic analysis of mental health maladies and services affiliated with the treatment of mental health conditions.

Fellowships are tailored to suit the needs, interests, and experiences of each fellow. They also generate knowledge and information to benefit the mental health field and the public. When appropriate, the program requests that fellows conduct one training session related to mental health and journalism for their peers during the fellowship year. Training can be in a variety of formats, including brown bag lunches, seminars, or panels.
